DOCK SEALING SOLUTIONS

Nothing could deter the triumphant progress made in the distribution of cold and frozen products for domestic and gastronomic consumption. The consumer requires fresh fruit, vegetables, milk products, fish and meat in a perfect sanitary state for his table. He is assisted in this by the South African frozen goods producers and SARDA (S.A. Refrigeration Distribution Association) who are committed to strict refrigeration standards.

Storage and transport of frozen products up to -38°C no longer poses a problem, thanks to progress in cold storage technology. The real difficulties present themselves at the time of transhipment from the cold storage warehouse to the refrigeration trucks - frosting of transhipment equipment, thawing of merchandise, variation in temperatures and significant energy waste, etc.

The challenge faced by designers and architects is to solve the above problem, while using a loading and unloading facility that would conform to the various widths of vehicles, ranging from simple urban transportation to refrigeration trucks of up to 2.6m wide.

DDL brings a unique solution to this challenge. A loading concept known as the Dock Sealing System, comprises six different systems to cover all types of loading and unloading applications.

Whether it's a Dock Cushion Seal, Dock Shelter or Dock Cubicle, it is possible to reduce the cold air leakage to a point close to zero in all new or existing cold storage, freezer or chiller buildings.

DDL Dock Sealing System offers an efficient solution to the cold storage chain and the inherent loading problems.

Dock Cushion Seal
Ideal sealing for distribution vehicles of uniform size.  Trucks reverse up and depress the cushion to form a perfect seal.

Dock Cushion Seal

Dock Shelter - Weather Guard

Consists of overlapping rubber flaps linked together.

Dock Shelter Weather Guard

Dock Shelter - Contact Curtain Seal
The top and side curtain seals and filler cushions form a seal around reversing trucks.  The added advantage is a larger dispatch door so that the double rear truck doors can be opened into the warehouse.

Dock Shelter

Dock Shelter - Inflatable Seal
The inflatable seal tightens, forming the shape and moulds around the outside of the truck, affording a perfect seal with all shapes and sizes of vehicles.

DOCK CUBICLE

In keeping with International trends where Docking Equipment is situated outside the warehouse in the form of an airlock Dock Cubicle, whether on a steel free standing or concrete base, this is to accommodate the Dock Levellers, tail lifts and allow the trucks double rear doors to be opened once the vehicle has reversed into and against the cubicle. A four page description of the Dock Cubicle is available by clicking here
